Eagles have some of the best eyes — with the most ‘attachments’ — in the animal kingdom; nearly eight times better than human eyes. If you swapped your eyes for an eagle's, you could see an ant crawling on the ground from the roof of a 10-story building. You could make out the expressions on basketball players' faces from the worst seats in the arena. Objects directly in your line of sight would appear magnified, and everything would be brilliantly colored, rendered in an inconceivable array of shades.
⫸
Two eyeball features confer eagle’s sharper vision. First, their retinas are more densely coated with light-detecting cells called cones than human retinas, enhancing their power to resolve fine details just as higher pixel density increases the resolving power of cameras. Second, they have a much deeper fovea, a cone-rich structure in the backs of the eyes of both humans and eagles that detects light from the center of our visual field. Some investigators think this deep fovea allows their eyes to act like a telephoto lens, giving them extra magnification in the center of their field of view. (Reposted via @charlysavely).

THIS is why fake meat is not better than grassfed beef/lamb/bison/goat. The inputs for “clean” and “pure” plant based protein products with huge IPOs are the result of systems that eliminate biodiversity, destroy soil health, and create toxic runoff poisoning our water. We need better meat, not plant based meat. And by the way, real meat is healthier than ultra-processed fake meat products. Don’t buy into their greenwashing. Just eat real food.

NAUTILUS ECO-RESORT, PHILIPPINES, by @vincentcallebautarchitectures 🌱🌿🍃 ROTATING APARTMENTS : To the East of the Nautilus Eco-Resort, 12 small spiral towers of varying heights invite travelers to live in apartments turning on their axis and following the course of the sun. Distributed in three branches, the 54 modules of three dwelling units fully rotate 360 degrees in one day. The 162 apartments offer exceptional views towards the landscape. The facades are adjusted surfaces integrating ramps to access the panoramic terraces. The central mat incorporates the vertical circulation and is covered with lush vegetation walls. At the top, a triskel roof also integrates solar tubes producing hot water and photovoltaic pergolas.⠀

We need a nickname for this squid!😱⁣
Seen alive for the first time, this squid with a flowy tail that extends to almost 3x the length of it’s body & shifts colors. WHAT!? Can you imagine being the first to observe footage like this!? What other cephalopods have we yet to discover? What other superpowers do cephalopods possess!? WowZa! 😂 Also, who finds the commentary hilarious? “It’s like a unicorn” lol ⁣

“Hovering above the seafloor, the Asperoteuthis mangoldae squid is a recently discovered deep-sea species that was just seen alive for the first time! Researchers think this unusual squid's tail may help it mimic other animals, like a stinging siphonophore. For NOAA scientist Dr. Michael Vecchione who identified the squid, the next question about this little-known cephalopod is why changing its appearance would be important for survival in the almost lightless deep sea. The Nautilus team spotted this sinuous squid at 930m near Jarvis Seamount in the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument. Learn more about this squid by checking out @NOAAoceanexploration’s website! ⁣

Qual a qualidade desse humano? É um ser humano que tem completo entendimento de que todos os seres vivos têm muito valor? Eu acredito que é apenas a partir dessa expansão de consciência que realmente tudo o que for feito dentro dessa concepção de Human-Centered Design faz muito sentido.

Aroma - Therapy is always personal. Yesterday someone asked me to recommend a product from Moss Botanicals that would help with sleep. I answered with a question. What is the overall sleep behavior? Is it a chronic issue? Is it pain related? Is it consistent? Take a moment to consider the various factors associated with why a person may have trouble sleeping through the night, falling asleep, or possibly waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep. Anxiety, medications, hormones, unknown fears, grief, etc. essential oils can be very specific for focusing on relief, balance, and relaxation with sleep conditions. However I also believe that the aromatic qualities are very important because if a person likes the smell and it brings pleasure and peace then most likely it will alleviate tension. And there is also the method of applying essential oils to the bottoms of the feet if the person does not want to smell the oil but wants to receive the benefits. This is me hand delivering the REST blend (bergamot, cedarwood, orange, myrtle, lavender, frankincense, Roman and German chamomile) to a client in need of sleep. So again it is always personal..

Re(connect), one of three essential elements of biomimicry, is about our deep connection to nature. It is a reminder that we are nature. We call it (re)connect because for some it is a return to a connection that was once very strong, perhaps in childhood, while for others it feels like the first connection. (Re)connect is very much about going outside and discovering the connections that we have with the natural world. In this way, the practice of connecting and reconnecting reveals discoveries about self, community, and life that you might never have imagined. (Words from Dayna Baumeister’s “Biomimicry Resource Handbook”). How have you connected to nature recently, and what did you discover?
