[COMPOSTER] celui qui change tout 🌿
.
.
Et vous ? Vous compostez ? Comment ?

Hello gourd-geous! #thesprout’s pretty cute too. 💚A Monday morning feeding the plants with vermicompost has never been so cute! 🐛💩.

Just too cool and interesting not to share! Reposted from @upgradedownloading In the early 20th century, newlywed couples would plant Sycamore trees in the front...the trees would be bound together, eventually growing into one tree, this symbolizing the marriage. Also called Bride and Groom trees. .

This weekend, I officially embarked on my at home composting journey! My goal here is to test out small-space composting options so that I can possibly do this when I go back to living in an apartment.

First method I'm testing: bucket compost!

To make it on the cheap side, I picked up 2 5 gallon buckets and 1 lid.
I drilled some holes in the bottom one 5 gallon bucket and along the sides. Then I plopped the holey bucket into another 5 gallon bucket. (Goal here is to allow some air flow and drainage without letting the smells creep out.) I also drilled about 5 holes in the lid.

Then I layered some brown material (in this case, some paper packaging materials), and then some of the green material (veggie and fruit scraps) and mixed it all around. I've read that the best ratio of browns to greens is 3:1, so I'll be hoarding any paper materials or leaves I find.

The one thing I forgot to do was to tear up the compost into smaller bits, so I ended up just jabbing it with the spade in attempts to slice them up. It sorta kinda worked.
Also it’s now snowing in CO and the bucket it on my porch..... so hopefully that doesn’t ruin it?! I’ve clearly got a few things to learn 😂

I'm going to let this 'rest' for a couple of days and then come turn it while most likely adding some more browns and greens.

I'm also going to test out vermicompost and bokashi methods too soon! Stay tuned for all kinds of composting updates 🍊 🍎.

I stopped buying orange juice a while back because I hated having to deal with the giant plastic container. When you’re used to the convenience of buying it, it’s easy to forget that if you in fact have oranges, than you in fact have orange juice. It just takes a little more time and elbow grease. But it’s one DIY I absolutely never mind doing. (Especially with this cute little juicer I thrifted years ago!) And I’m going to place a bet that if you’re a human being that breathes air, you’ll agree that fresh squeezed always tastes better. Prove me wrong..

The art of initiating the process of compost is pretty simple.
1. Segregate your waste
2. Know what is compostable-like vegetable/fruit peels
3. Dig a hole in the ground and bury it in.

. Today we have guests from Department of Agriculture in PJ. . Thanks Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Johor for organizing the field trip. It's good to see government body come to our farm and study our "FOLO" farming method. . But coming together is just a beginning, and we require more parties to join this "FOLO" farming method. Because we are not only about farming and selling the veggies. . FOLO farming also include, - food waste recovery - building a community that appreciate farmer' effort - bringing life back to our farming soil - reconnect with nature . And most importantly, to feed our loved ones! . Cheers! . . . . . #compost  #csa  #EatHealthy #growyourown #ediblegarden #farmhousedecor #farming #littlegreensteps #organicfarm  #organicmalaysia #nowaste  #urbanfarming #veganfood ...
