show me a man who can sit with a woman in deep struggle and vulnerability and not try to fix it, but just hear her and be with her and hold space for it, I'll show you a guy who's done his work and a man who doesn't derive his power from controlling and fixing everything. Brene Brown

Many of us naturally want to fix things for others. We are problem solvers and we feel validated when we can assist someone or fix something for someone. But what most of us want is to be seen, heard and validated exactly as we are. The human spirit wants to be witnessed as it is. We want to be accepted and loved in our imperfections and pain. As we learn from Brene Brown, rarely does a response fix anything. What helps in tough and painful situations is connection. We connect with one another when we are seen and heard. When we are validated in our experience.
If we start to ask ourselves what it is we need when we seek to be vulnerable with others, we will start to recognize what others needs too. Holding space for someone is a skill to build. Holding space requires us to step back, be fully present, listen and connect (validate.) How would your life be different if you practice the pause, listened and empathize instead of trying to fix the problem?
Much love to everyone.

The origin of consciousness is one of the great unanswered questions of our time. Although science has yet to come up with a definitive explanation, it is clear that we can raise our own state of consciousness. What, then, is the best method for doing this? Meditation.

By making you, in a very real sense, more conscious of the world around you, meditation does many things — heightens your awareness, deepens thought levels, boosts sensory perception, increases stimuli processing capability, not to mention a limitless number of other emotional, psychological, and physical benefits. Here are 5 things to understand about how meditation affects your consciousness:

1. Meditation teaches you to live in the present.
2. The mind is constantly and compulsively churning.
3. Under all of the mind’s noise is a quiet place.
4. Harnessing and focusing the mind changes everything.
5. Meditation affects the consciousness in a scientifically measurable way.
