Go vegan really going to save the world? REALLY?
When you say go vegan, you assume a free market, where supply & demand play out in market dynamics? There’s no massive corporations with industrial agriculture systems that lobby governments for subsidies and manipulate food guidelines, food access & literally what is in your supermarket shelf? No governments making trade deals to export industrialised commodified food across oceans for profit? Skewing supply to create demand by limiting food options? It’s all based solely on what we the individuals CHOOSE? Remember my post on loss of food biodiversity.
When you say go vegan, do you mean source plant based food produced in destructive systems of labour abuses, deforestation & pricing out local communities? Land grabbing from local & indigenous communities by corporations to grow the plant based commodities with destructive farming that goes into your fake burgers?
When you say go vegan, you think everyone has the same food CHOICES (cuz I see this word thrown about & I’m about to burst a blood vessel), the same ACCESS to fresh, organic, local plant-based food? You don’t think racial power constructs limit marginalised people’s access to good food, as a way of controlling people? You don’t think you dismiss communities who have sustainably hunted & fished their food because traditionally they do not have access to farmland?
Stop with the go vegan to save the rainforests already. Focus on the cause: industrialised agriculture facilitated by vvhite supremacy scaled up the production of cheap food for profit. They play economies of scale & keep overproducing of which 30% of food produced is WASTED (check @anurbanharvester for how much meat he finds dumpster diving). It’s disgusting we have lost our food autonomy, manipulated by a few multi-billionaires exploiting our basic needs for 💰💰& power.
Our fight is to get back control of our food from them, empower local farmers for regenerative methods, scale up the number of small farms & shut down Big Agri.
I’m too tired now to end this with an action item, covered it in my previous post. Educate yourself on food biodiversity, access & production. Google is free. ...
💪🌍🛫 #comerciointernacional#internationaltrade#comex#comercioexterior#freetrade#globaltrade#globaltradeleaders ...
