Derby Bucks Go from Strength to Strength.
As Derby Bucks take their first steps into their second season, they were invited to Derby City Sport Forum’s annual awards as a nominee in the ‘Sports Team of the Year’ category. Given the team’s short lifespan Derby RFC were happy to attend to meet other local teams but didn’t hold high hopes for bringing home the award. How wrong they were with the Bucks scooping the prestigious accolade! Derby RFC Chairman Martyn Murney and Derby Bucks player Simon Murney were on hand to accept the award from Derby mayor, Councillor Frank Harwood , on behalf of the Derby Bucks. Martyn was happy to explain how the Mixed Ability concept works based on the empathy of players (both disabled and noon-disabled) and a sound understanding of the ‘tackle who needs to be tackled’ ethos.

With the recent announcement of Derby Bucks’ invitation to the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART) in 2020 the award capped off a bumper start to the season. The Bucks are always looking for new players (male 17+) and would love to see some new faces. Everyone is welcome to get involved regardless of their rugby playing ability or previous experience, the focus is on fun and developing as a team.
