Yes, we are a time-traveling European company. Does it not say that in our bio? Hmm, might be something to look into. In the meantime, happy Sunday!.

Here is a happy snap of our home compost! We are in the process of converting a portion of our front garden into a veggie patch and this soil has come in very handy! When growing anything, the best place to start is with the soil as healthy soil means healthy plants. Tbh, it’s taken me a couple of years to really understand the importance of it! A home compost is so easy and a great way to reduce waste in your house hold too! How do you start a compost? Well I have a compost bin but you can start with a compost ‘heap’ if you prefer. I started up by saving up my green kitchen scraps like fruit and veg and eggshells (no dairy or meat products though), carbon scraps such as old tea bags and shedded cardboard. I popped all these items in my bin and then I just threw dirt on top, added a splash of water and left to break down! That’s all there is to it! I continue to add green and carbon scraps from the house and mix everything with a bit of water once a week or so. After a couple of months you’ll have healthy, fresh soil to add to your garden beds! Do you have a compost for your garden?.

I feel like this is the photo that sums up my 3rd go at section hiking this trail. After 73 miles I am admitting that so far to me, this is easily the most beautiful and strangely pleasant section. It was cold but sunny, with lots of creek crossings. We embraced the difficulties with smiles and trudged on through very hilly ups and downs. There was no shortage of water, just a lack of trail blazes when we started to question if we were on the actual trail. (Thank you @avenzamaps!)
There were splashes of color from blue sky, green and gold pine floors and soft yellow birch leaves hanging on to branches through the late winter wind. Spring fed creeks boasting turquoise and emerald, and the occasional blue jay fluttering above. Bare branches against a bright sky resembled a million capillaries, keeping the forest alive.
This trail has such a hold on me and I’m not sure what keeps pulling me back. The Shawnee has a mystical and spiritually cleansing effect on me. It truly isn’t about elevation gain or summit bagging. It’s the journey, the company you hold, the way it all makes you feel. I’m doing this trail for myself, and when I finish it I know I’m going to be both happy and sad. It’s been a personal growing and trail family bonding experience, a boost in confidence while keeping me humble all at once.
Just some muddy, hilly, confusing trail in Southern Illinois running from the Ohio River to the Mississippi.

Something foul amongst the flowers... February is the month for smelly stinkhorns! Look out for their bizarre fruiting bodies on woody mulch in Atlanta parks and gardens. This one looks like column stinkhorn (Clathrus columnatus), which is usually only seen in urban areas. It might be an introduced species to the US.

One of my favorite magickal ingredients is eggshells. Practically speaking, grinding the shells and sprinkling them in our garden is a nice, inexpensive way to enrich our soil and give our plants nutrients. Sometimes I also combine the eggshells with coffee grinds for an extra nitrogen boost for our garden. For magickal purposes, I add shells, salt and rosemary to my mortar and pestle and grind until I’ve got a fine powder for use in protection spells. I also use this powder to cast circles. I just love the practicality of eggshells. I especially enjoy using the shells of our friends’ chicken/duck eggs, because I know those animals are loved and protected, and therefore the eggs they produced are infused with love and security-definitely elements I’m seeking to engage when I need a spell for protection. #kitchenwitch #kitchenwitchery #greenwitch #greenwitchcraft #homesteading #chickeneggs #duckeggs #spellcrafting #herbmagick #gardening #thriftyliving #practicalmagic #soil #spells #castingcircles #castingspells #witchyvibes #witchythings #witchery #witch #pagan #pagansofinstagram #witchesofinstagram.

Sunday mornings at the Farmer’s Market❤️❤️ I love trying new things and I love the stories behind all of these incredible local brands/growers...Something about feeling connected to where our food comes from and the care & love that goes into just makes me feel so happy and healthy. My favorite part was learning more about the medicinal micro-greens. I got the chance to chat with the owner and learn more about the healing benefits and why micro-greens are something you should be adding to your everyday nutritional routine. Ill be uploading the video soon🙌🏼 Tell me your favorite farmer’s market anywhere in the world and some of your favorite local brands below⬇️⬇️ (I tagged some that I tried today💞🙌🏼)🍓🥦🥒🥬🧀 #health #wellness #nutrition #farmersmarket #local #soil #healing #cleaningredients #california #eat #loveyourbody #athlete.

👩🏻‍🌾🥕Did you know that there’s a natural antidepressant in soil?
Mycobacterium vaccae is a bacteria found in soil that has been shown to stimulate neurons in the brain similarly to Prozac -but without the negative side effects!

This bacteria boosts serotonin production -and you may already know about this legendary neurotransmitter that has been dubbed the happy hormone🤗 Serotonin reduces anxiety and makes us feel happy and relaxed, like the feeling of walking outside on a warm sunny day.
And is also helps with sleeping, digestion, memory, temperature regulation and sexual desire!

One more reason to start a veggie patch! Here’s me with some garden goodness I just picked! Nothing better than home grown produce 🧡
Do you have a herb or veggie garden? What’s your favourite thing to grow? 🥕.

Not gonna lie. As a health-aware person with type 1 diabetes, holding and tasting actual raw sugar cane had been a fantasy of mine for some time... Dreams really do come true y’all — especially when you’re following your inner calling.

And do you know what tastes even sweeter than sweet?! The quality connections I’m making with quality people doing quality work to inspire quality change! 💖🌱🙏 This picture and video are from my Regenerative Gardening & Living class with Farmer Rishi Kumar, which I highly, highly recommend! You can find it online at Kiss the Ground. In-person, hands-on sessions are optional and (in my opinion) the very best part!! .

[A World Without Soil]
