At long last, today is the official release of Simply Living Well!
When I started writing this book in 2018, I couldn’t have known it would go out into the world during a global pandemic. Ironically enough, I wrote it as a tribute to my grandparents and great-grandparents and the resource-conscious mindset that got them through the Great Depression and the Second World War.
In some ways, Simply Living Well is as timely as ever. At home these past few weeks, I’ve cracked it every single day for one recipe or another, my desire to live simply and sustainably never stronger as I wonder what the future might bring. My book looks back as much as it looks forward – a fusion of practices old and new, showing all sorts of ways to shift from a scarcity mindset to a creative mindset, to simplify and slow down, and to live frugally, self-sufficiently, and harmoniously with the natural world. •••
Simply Living Well is available at all major retailers today. It can also be ordered through local, independent bookstores as well as a few family-run businesses. If you’re keen on supporting small shops, be sure to check out: @freckledhenfarmhouse , @helenmilanhome@heritagegoodsandsupply , @junehomesupply. or @bostongeneralstore.
Thank you, always, for your support and pleases tag me if you make something from the book. I would love to see it! ...

Found a bottle of kombucha in the back of the fridge last night, so it’s kombucha popsicles for breakfast 😎. It’s probably the simplest thing to make, so that makes it even better. Just pour kombucha into some popsicle molds and freeze. It’s such a tasty treat... or breakfast.
(And no, I haven’t ran out of food. I’m just over cooking actual meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the 2947382 day in a row😬) ...
Let’s talk about universal basic income 🌱
Recent events have made it very obvious that society’s ideas of meritocracy are totally backwards. Those we’ve placed at the ‘bottom’ are the ones who keep our countries afloat: the health workers, cleaners, bin men, postal workers, bus drivers, supermarket workers & carers are the ones who deserve the highest financial rewards. But that’s not how we’ve set up our hierarchies.
So, when we all start to come out of this, what can we do?
I think universal basic income has to be one of the solutions. It’s a policy that has had support from across the political spectrum. It also improves quality of life, produces long term economic benefits, increases health and education, & reduces homelessness, poverty and hospitalisation.
It’s a fascinating idea that I’ve been passionate about for a long time, so I wrote an explainer on the whole thing on the blog. Link in bio, hope it helps! 🌿

More time indoors = more time to reflect on all the things I’m grateful for. Right now this includes:
🔸 my amazing sister and workout buddy @georgiahelen_
🔸 beautiful clothes like this dress I will enjoy wearing all the more once we can go out again
🔸 the big man @mrpypsy dealing with my crap constantly, even though he’s 170 miles away
🔸 the wonderful network of creatives like @teresa.ann.dickson who took this photo(rainbow added by me though cause I’m obsessed with all the colour🌈 ), all of whom I can’t wait to work with again once this is all over 🙌🏻
🔸 time to work on content I’ve been wanting to put out for ages (hiya TikTok!)

got our fence around the garden up & transplanted our seedlings. the seeds I planted directly in the other raised bed are starting to sprout as well! my vision for this garden is slowly coming together & I’m so excited to gather the first fruits of my labor 🙌🏼 I’m starting small since this is my first garden and enjoying the learning process. all good things take time + it has already been so rewarding🌱 ...
