Can I tell you a little secret from one Westerner to another? You've been sold a lie about the continent of Africa. Over and over again, you've been handed a water-down, poverty-washed, one-sided view of one of this incredible place. It's as diverse in its climate as it is in it's culture and people. I've been in local posh restaurants to beautifully made huts to marble floored homes. I've visited cold mountains, pristine beaches, sandy deserts, lush tropical beauty, and so much more.⠀
And it's people, oh man, don't even get me started on its beautiful, warm, community-loving people because we will be here all day. I've met brilliant community leaders and ingenious problem-solvers trying to clean up the mess that was made through colonialism and generations of having it's natural resources stolen. ⠀
But here's the number one thing I've discovered about Africa- IT DOESN'T NEED SAVING. Lemme say it again so it can sink in for all of us Westerners- Africa. Doesn't. Need. You. To. Save. Her. ⠀
In my humble opinion, Africa needs you to respect her, trade with her, collaborate with her, and give her a seat at the table of the world.⠀ ...

These lovely waist beads are in..From the Ashanti region of Ghana
In Africa waist beads are used as a sensual #feminine#adornment . Often they are scented and may have bells and other symbols attached to the beads.. They can denote virginity, ripeness or a number of #sensual subtleties..
The waist beads are beautiful and made with love by beautiful Akan elder woman, Nana Akua of the Krobo in the Eastern Region of #Ghana . They are strung on traditional string and can be restrung onto elastic.
The waist beads are 45 inches... my bredren bought out her stock which helps gives her time for much needed rest from recent illness... The beads will be cleansed in the Caribbean sea, smudged and naturally scented...
